Bankura University today hosted a thought-provoking One-Day Conclave on STBT

Bankura (22 August 2026) : Contextualising Indian Knowledge Systems for Contemporary Education, bringing together distinguished policymakers, academicians, public representatives and members of the wider academic community for an enriching dialogue on the relevance, preservation and contemporary application of Indian Knowledge Systems in education. Professor Nandini Sahu, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Hindi University, West Bengal, delivered a thought provoking special lecture on the Pedagogy of Introducing Indian Knowledge Systems in Indian universities.

The programme was graced by the august presence of Dr. Kalyan Chakraborti, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Science and Technology and Biotechnology; Department of Food Processing Industries and Horticulture; and Department of Information Technology and Electronics, Government of West Bengal, who attended the programme as the Inaugurator and Chief Guest.

The University was privileged to welcome Shri Kshudiram Tudu, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Tribal Development and Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal, and Shri Dibakar Gharami, Hon’ble Minister of State, Government of West Bengal, with charge of the Departments of Co-operation, Environment and Forests. Their gracious presence added distinction and significance to the occasion.

Dr. Subhas Sarkar, former Member of Parliament and former Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, also graced the programme with his presence.

The occasion was further enriched by the presence of Hon’ble Members of the Legislative Assembly representing the Bankura district, including Smt. Chandana Bauri, Shri Satyanarayan Mukhopadhyay, Shri Kshetramohan Hansda, Shri Souvik Patra, Shri Billeswar Sinha and Shri Amarnath Shakha.

The Conclave featured distinguished resource persons, including Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Majumdar, Professor (Retd.), Department of Mathematics, University of Calcutta; Prof. (Dr.) Nandini Sahu, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Hindi University; and Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, Associate Professor, Department of History, Bangabasi Morning College. Their scholarly insights and perspectives contributed significantly to the intellectual discourse of the Conclave.

The programme was held under the Chief Patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Rup Kumar Barman, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Bankura University, whose vision and leadership continue to encourage meaningful academic engagements.
