Hindi University Celebrates National Sports Day with Three-Day “Khelega Bharat Jeetega Bharat” Programme

Howrah (30 August 2026) : Hindi University, West Bengal, celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm by organizing a three-day sports programme titled “Khelega Bharat Jeetega Bharat” from 28th August to 30th August 2026.

The programme was organized with the objective of encouraging students, faculty members and non-teaching staff to actively participate in sports and physical activities and to inculcate the values of physical fitness, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, leadership and healthy competition.

The entire celebration was held under the guidance and patronage of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Professor Nandini Sahu, Finance Officer Shri Siddhartha Ghatak Chowdhury, and OSD, Examinations Shri Debabrata Bhanja. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Sports Coordinator Sri Aman Singh, who supervised all sports activities and motivated the university community to participate with zeal.

In her address to the students, faculty and staff, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nandini Sahu emphasized that sports are an essential component of holistic development and a healthy institutional life. She highlighted that regular participation in sports not only improves physical health and fitness but also develops discipline, confidence, resilience, leadership and the spirit of cooperation. She urged students to maintain a healthy balance between academic pursuits and physical well-being, and called upon faculty and non-teaching staff to support sports and fitness activities to create an energetic and positive environment on campus.

The three-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all sections of the university. Various sports and fitness activities were conducted at both Howrah and Kolkata campuses, creating an atmosphere of energy, unity and camaraderie. The programme provided a common platform for students, teachers and staff to come together, showcase their sporting spirit and strengthen mutual bonding.

The successful completion of “Khelega Bharat Jeetega Bharat” on 30th August 2026 marked a meaningful observance of National Sports Day, which is celebrated in memory of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The celebration reaffirmed Hindi University’s commitment to the all-round development of its students and staff and its mission to promote a culture of fitness and sportsmanship in line with the national vision of a healthy and active India.
