KOLKATA (22 Aprail, 2026) : Bethune College hosted an inter-collegiate theatre workshop on “Theatre, Communication and Science” on Wednesday, bringing together around 160 students from five universities and 14 colleges.

Organised by the Department of Hindi in collaboration with the Students’ Activity Cell (Drama Club), the workshop aimed to explore how theatrical tools can enhance scientific communication and critical thinking. The sessions were conducted in Hindi, Bengali and English, ensuring wider accessibility. The workshop was led by theatre director and actor Plaban Basu along with members of the Moulali Rangashilpi Group, who engaged participants through interactive exercises. Activities included training in acting techniques, voice modulation, coordination, and improvisation, alongside a science-themed quiz.

Participants also staged a short performance at the end of the session, demonstrating their learning and creative expression. Principal Rajyasri Roy oversaw the initiative, while Namita Jaiswal, Head of the Hindi Department, coordinated the programme with support from Nilanjana Bagchi.

Founded as a pioneer of women’s education and affiliated to the University of Calcutta, Bethune College continues to uphold its legacy by promoting interdisciplinary learning and inclusive academic engagement.
